These boats are used on small rivers where bigger hydrofoils cannot navigate. The photograph was made by my friend from Saint-Petersburg Alexander Sosnin during his trip to the Lena river.

Besides the upper Lena, POLESYE can be seen on Severnaya (Northern) Dvina, upper Ob and Oka rivers. During the eighties there were more than one hundred boats built.
