Rodriques MEC1

Experimental shaftless design. This was not adopted due to various problems.

Foils - Configured in a canard configuration they are of the surface-piercing type. A set of hydraulic controlled trailing edge flaps are provided.

Hull - The lines of the craft are V-shaped derived from the 65 series. The hull is built in seawater resistant light metal alloy. It is riveted and welded using inert gas.

Propulsion - Propulsion is provided by a pair of Power Shafts using a tractor propeller driven directly by a hydraulic motor elastic mounted on the aft foil.

SAC - A Seakeeping Augumentation Controller designed and built by the Rodriquez Electronics division is provided.

Hydraulics - Steering is hydraulic with electric control from the wheelhouse. Flap movements are also hydraulically accomplished.

Fire-fighting - A fixed CO2 system is installed to provide service in the engine room. Portable CO2 bottles are also fitted.

Air conditioning - An air/freon air conditioning system is installed in all passenger saloons as well as in the wheelhouse.

Navigational aids - A radar, medium wave radio, VHF, Loran and/or satellite navigator are foreseen.

Miscellaneous systems - The hydrofoil is equipped with all the necessary systems such as fuel, sea water, fresh water, lube oil and bilge system.
