Description from Alexandr Jegorov, August 2000

Dear colleagues,
Let me inform you about the first hydrofoil with sails built in the Czech Republic. It was constructed at 1999 by my father (physician Alexandr Jegorov sen., Yacht Club Cerna v Posumavi) at home without any plans, just for fun. Its name is Dactyloptera and has 7 m length and 6.5 m width. It is built basically from fibre-glass/Aluminium-alloys with laminated-wood wings. Currently is tested at the Lipno Dam, South Bohemia, with Fireball sails. Preliminary experience indicate that optimum regime starts above roughly 5 m/s, but there are still some problems to be solved with the trim.
