How to Use This CD-ROM
Previous  Top  Next

1. Each document is a separate Adobe Acrobat file on the CD-ROM. You open each document individually. There are several ways to open a document, including for example:
·Open Acrobat Reader and click on FILE:Open to browse the file directory and select a file
·From Windows Explorer, click once on the CD-ROM drive in the left frame and double-click the desired file in the right frame
·Etc.

2. The file name of each document starts with a unique 4-digit IHS Sequence Number
and includes a portion of the document title to help identify the contents. Example file names are as follows (note the IHS Sequence Number at the beginning of each file name):
·0101 SES Medium Displ Combatant.pdf
·0130 Effect of Coatings on the Fatigue Life of 15-5 PH Stainl.pdf

3. The IHS Sequence Number
is the first part of each file name. It is cited in the title of each abstract in this index.

4. Thus there are two ways to locate and open the document files on this CD-ROM:
·You can simply look through the directory. Select and open files based on their descriptive file names
·You can note the IHS Sequence Number in an abstract in this index, then locate the corresponding document by number in the directory

Note: Unfortunately, the free Acrobat Reader does not offer the capability to open files directly from links in the index... thus the somewhat awkward procedure to open a file individually after noting its IHS Sequence Number in its corresponding abstract.
